Fall Semester 2022-2023

We are so excited to start a new school year with you and the whole MELS community! We know there  may still be some uncertainties for this upcoming school year, however, we like to share all the information to help prepare during the summer as possible.

Helpful links to have:

  1. All families should ensure their child has activated their new DOE email addresses. If you are a current student at MELS, please reach out to Mr.Counts at qcounts@metropolitanels.com to have your password reset. If you are an incoming MELS student, please reach out to your last school’s guidance counselor/parent coordinator.
  2. You can find your child summer reading assignments and supply list below.
  3.  We also highly encourage families to check out https://www.schools.nyc.gov/ for further information about NYC new health policies, DOE plan to return to school, letters from the chancellor, and more.

As our families know we are a uniform school. Uniform bottoms and footwear vary depending on what grade your student will be entering. One thing that is consistent with all our students is MELS shirts. MELS will be hosting our annual uniform shirt sales in August.

Families/students will be able to purchase uniform shirts August 30,  31, and September 1 from 9am to 1:00pm.

We will also be hosting the sale from September 6 and September 7th from 9am to 1pm.

Please note we will be closing our doors at 12:45pm so we can attend all families on line and close down at 1pm.

In order to enter the building, all visitors must check in with our school safety, providing a photo ID and show proof of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination to enter a DOE school building. Visitors do not include students attending school. If a family is unable to enter the school building due to these restrictions please let one of our student ambassadors who will be assisting the sale know and we will work on accommodating the family outside.

We strongly encourage families to wear their masks properly and follow safety protocols while on school grounds.

Email Notice

We are sending families information via email, if you have not been receiving emails from us please reach out to our parent coordinator Ashley Barcia at abarcia@metropolitanels.com
