Adam King

Adam is a proud Queens native and was happy to return after five years of living and teaching in Manhattan. While he always loved to read, Adam fell in love (again) with books as an undergraduate at Brown University where his first-year advisor introduced him to the discipline of Ethnic Studies. While exploring Latino performance art and student-teaching at the same time, Adam decided that knowledge and thinking about one’s cultural experience was something largely left out of the most classrooms and sought to rectify the situation becoming a teacher. As a graduate student, Adam found Expeditionary Learning an exciting new way to engage learners. Since earning his master’s degree, he worked in an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school in Manhattan for students who needed a new way to do high school.
