Andreina was born in the small town of Moca, in the Dominican Republic, and raised in Jamaica, Queens. She graduated from Jamaica High School where she was part of the softball and volleyball teams. Earning the third highest grade in her class, Andreina went to Hofstra University where she majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology. It was here that she learned more about the many social injustices that we as a society hold and continue to face. Andreina shared her passion for working with youths by volunteering as a Big Sister for the Big Brother Big Sister program; tutoring children in her community; developing and being a part of fundraising events that benefitted organizations that serviced youths; and working as a Learning Coach for Harlem RBL after graduating from Hofstra, Andreina pursued a Master’s degree in Social Work from CUNY Hunter College. As a Social Work Intern, she worked with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, with Assemblyman Robert J Rodriguez as Community Liaison, and at the Bronx School for Law, Government, and Justice.
