Ambar is a native New Yorker who grew up in Queens. As an undergraduate she studied psychology and focused on child and adolescent development. Here Ambar was reassured that working with students was her passion. After earning her bachelors she spent four years working at a social service non-profit directing a teen center and college preparation program for high school students. Though the job was perfect for her energetic and enthusiastic working style, she felt that she needed a space to make a greater impact on the lives of the students she served. Ambar then decided to pursue her masters in education and joined Teachers College, Columbia University, Teaching Residents program in inclusive secondary education. There she not only solidified that teaching was the right direction, but also learned extensively how to create a curriculum accessible to all the students in the classroom with diverse learning styles. After teaching in the classroom for over eight years, she is now working in a different role as Co-Dean, but still supporting students everyday.
