MELS

Manning

Growing up in Forest Hills, Tara has always had a passion for history and for education. What started as volunteer hours as a TA in a 10th grade classroom during her senior year blossomed into a full-blown career. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz with her BA in History and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Since a career in education was always her goal, she attended Hunter College to receive her MA in Adolescent Education: Social Studies. She is incredibly excited to weave equity work and student advocacy into history curriculum– showing students that their voices do matter. As part of the first graduating class of MELS, Tara is honored to be able to instill a love of learning and curiosity for future generations of MELS alumni.
Outside of teaching, Tara loves to cook, play video games, and spend time with her friends and family!
