I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina, where my enthusiasm for science led me to engage in impactful diabetes research at the Medical University of South Carolina. After graduation, my adventurous spirit took me across the globe, from exploring the food and beverage industry in London to delving into accounting and ski resort valet services in Lake Tahoe.
In my quest for purpose and meaningful experiences, I served as a Peace Corps science teacher in Burkina Faso for over two years, broadening my horizons and enhancing my teaching skills. Upon my return, I managed operations at the Charleston Visitor Center and contributed to the educational initiatives at the Charleston Children’s Museum. Eager to deepen my scientific expertise, I became a chemical analyst at Chehalem Winery in Oregon before embarking on a different journey as a flight attendant with United Airlines.
Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to education, I pursued my Masters of Arts in Teaching and subsequently became a founding teacher at the Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Queens. There, I embraced the opportunity to nurture young minds and foster a love for learning.
My adventurous spirit once again led me to explore the world as the captain of a sailing vessel, allowing me to gain valuable life experiences and perspectives. In April 2023, I returned to Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School, where I continue to channel my expertise, passion, and diverse experiences into shaping the future graduates of MELS.
