6th Grade MELS Student, Lily, Wins NYCDEP’s Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest

In February to early March, one of our amazing art teachers, Ms.Gould encouraged 6th-grade students to create watercolor posters advocating for the protection of NYC’s water resources.

Let us all send congratulations to Lily T., who has been selected as a winner for outstanding art entry submitted to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) 34th annual Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest. The entry was beautifully executed and shows a genuine understanding of and appreciation for New York’s water resources.

More than 1,600 watershed and New York City students participated in the contest this year. During this challenging time, the creativity and thoughtfulness depicted in your students’ artwork and poetry have been an inspiring reminder of the importance of the work that we all do every day to protect our environment.

This year, we will be celebrating Lily as a Water Champion virtually.

Her artwork will be featured on the  New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) 34th annual Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest Flickr page
